Uploading the iDev Affiliate Files

iDev Affiliate Tutorials Chapter 3

iDev Affiliate doesn’t run on your computer. It needs to run on a web server, for all the world to see.

Hosting

If you don’t have a hosting account yet, then see the resources section for recommended hosting.

If you do have a hosting account, then you’re going to need the login instructions your host sent you when you set up the account.

FTP Software

Once again, I’m not responsible for anything you download to your computer, but here are two great FTP programs, both free:

There are plenty of other ones on the web and if you have Dreamweaver (or God forbid, FrontPage) then you probably already have an FTP program built in. But my recommendation is to have a dedicated FTP program that does nothing except FTP operations.

What the Heck is FTP?

FTP stands for file transfer protocol and that translates from geek-speak to “software for moving files from your hard drive to your web server, and vice versa”. It’s a tool you’ll use to take the iDev Affiliate files on your hard drive and upload them to your web server.

Watch the video and it will all make sense.
